Where We Work
Sighet, Romania
A remote northern city on the border with Ukraine, Sighet is home to two Baptist churches who host the training for eighteen students. Most of the students are lay leaders who work full-time jobs as farmers, and have little opportunity for training in preaching or for formal theological education. Yet, because of the lack of trained leaders, these laymen preach in Churches multiple times a week.
The incredible need in this region is demonstrated by TLI's national partner, Sorin Sarbu, who pastors five rural congregations alongside his primary ministry in Sighet. By providing non-formal training for these pastors and lay leaders, TLI is helping to supply many local churches with faithful preachers and teachers. This site will graduate in November 2020.

I love the goal of international, Christ-exalting, theological famine relief. And I love the way God has raised up Training Leaders Int’l to meet that need with real-live, Spirit-filled, human teachers, on the ground, face-to-face with pastors and Christian leaders who have little or no opportunity for in-depth theological training. May the Word of the Lord run and be glorified!
