Jesus in Athens Documentary
Jesus in Athens is a one-hour documentary telling the supernatural work of God amongst Persian and Afghan migrants in Athens, Greece. The documentary is based on research from Darren Carlson's PhD dissertation on migrant faith and communities in Athens. The documentary will tell the stories of multiple migrants who have journeyed to Athens, turned to Christ, and now serve in the city. We will explore the ways in which Satan seeks to undermine the work of the Spirit. Greek churches and ministries, migrant-led churches, and refugee centers will be highlighted.
The goal of this documentary is to shine a bright light on the Holy Spirit's work in the midst of a very challenging situation in Athens. We want to capture (1) The challenges people face to migrate (2) The supernatural work of God to redeem people coming from a Muslim background (3) The work of Greek churches, refugee centers, and missionaries. The intended result is that people would give thanks to God for the work that is being done, consider the commitments Christians should have on the issue of illegal migration, and consider ways to engage in ministry to refugees and Muslims.
The documentary is being produced by Pete Hansen, who also produced the well-known Dispatches from the Front Series.
The documentary will be sold and all of the proceeds will be given to Training Leaders International and ministries serving and led by migrants in Athens.
