Ambo, Ethiopia is a University town two hours west of the capital, Addis Ababa. While the Orthodox church maintains its dominant presence in the town, animism is prevalent in the small towns and villages outside of Ambo. Lacking among the educational options in Ambo is a training institution for the pastors and church leaders of the growing number of evangelical churches in the area. TLI’s Non-Formal training has been investing in pastors in Ambo since 2019 and will launch it’s second training cohort in September of 2022.

Course 5 equips the trainees to understand poetry accurately and to communicate it clearly and relevantly. Psalms has been chosen as a representative of this genre. Sample psalms will be the focus (e.g., lament, thanksgiving, imprecation, royal/messianic, Ps. 78).
