Our mission in the Hawaiian Islands and other Pacific Islands is to serve and equip pastors and churches in the Hawaiian Islands for the sake of the Pacific Islands. Through Oahu Theological Seminary training, informal pastoral equipping and preaching workshops, and involvement with pastoral and denominational networks in Hawaii and across the Pacific, we are praying that our team in the Islands will help Hawaii become an equipping and sending base for churches throughout the Pacific Rim.

Overview
In an effort to support healthy churches in the Pacific Islands, TLI assists local leaders in establishing their own pastoral training colleges and seminaries. This position requires joining the Hawaii and Pacific Islands team in implementing a vision for a self-governed, local church-partnered seminary on Oahu, Hawaii. The ideal candidate has a terminal degree in biblical-theological studies or education, and proven competency in teaching and administration. Candidates must be able to create and teach formal courses cross-culturally and have a deep commitment to and experience in the local church. You must develop your own personal support network and be willing to live on Oahu, Hawaii.

Qualifications
• Abiding faith in Jesus Christ
• Meet character qualifications of a local church elder (1 Tim. 3:1-7)
• Love for the local church and a passion to train leaders who will plant and pastor healthy local churches
• Ability to create and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in accordance with a course description from a college or seminary
• Ability to establish relationships and communicate cross-culturally
• Ability to lead a team of professional educators
• Whole-hearted agreement with The Gospel Coalition Confessional Statement
• Whole-hearted agreement with the vision and strategy of TLI
• PhD, DMin, or equivalent in biblical studies or education
• Pastoral and/or educational experience preferred
Responsibilities include:
• Joining the Hawaii and Pacific Islands team in administrative and student services planning for Oahu Theological Seminary
• Designing and implementing administrative processes for Oahu Theological Seminary
• Traveling to other Hawaiian and/or Pacific Islands 2–4 times per year for teaching and pastoral equipping
• Teaching seminary courses on Oahu
• Assisting in the development of staff and volunteer instructors
• Meeting with local leaders to foster the further development of Oahu Theological Seminary and other seminaries in the Pacific Rim
• With the Pacific Islands team leader, developing and assessing potential new partnerships across the Islands
• Administering the fulfillment of the teaching obligations. This includes helping to recruit volunteer instructors and local adjuncts
• Engaging in professional writing projects related to your area of specialization and the mission of TLI
Travel Expectations
• 15 - 20 days per year for travel to Hawaiian and other Pacific Islands
Compensation
• Compensation will be commensurate with applicant's qualifications and will be agreed upon hire. This is a fundraised position
