Associate Professors – Tyndale Theological Seminary (3 positions), Badhoevedorp, Netherlands
School: Tyndale Theological Seminary (3 positions) Location: Badhoevedorp, Netherlands Brief Synopsis of the Ministry: The rationale for Tyndale itself arises from the need for theological education on the European continent from an Evangelical theological perspective. Evangelicals are committed to the Scriptures as the only completely trustworthy, infallible authority in matters of faith and practice. The Sola Scriptura view so important to the Reformers is one that we, along with our fellow Evangelicals, hold dear.
God has blessed the European continent - and as a result the church around the world - with theological giants especially those of the Reformation and afterwards. We owe a great debt to those who have gone before. However, many who teach in theological faculties of historic European universities today do not hold to an Evangelical view of Scripture. Hence, we believe there is a great need in Europe for master level training from an Evangelical, Sola Scriptura, perspective. Tyndale helps meet this need.
Further, there are many countries around Europe, particularly in Central and Eastern European countries where students don’t have an opportunity to study at an institution like Tyndale at the Masters level. The same can be said of those outside of Europe. So, we meet a real need for people in those parts of Europe and elsewhere who have limited access to similar training in their own nations.
Even if a person does have access to the training we offer in their own country, he or she wouldn’t have the opportunity to study in such a diverse intercultural environment. We believe Tyndale is unique in this regard. As graduates return to serve the Lord in their own countries, they take with them the broader perspective which results from studying outside of one’s own context and from interacting with Christians from many other nations and denominational backgrounds.
Last, we strive for a good balance between academic and practical ministry preparation/training. This is not always the case at other schools which offer Master level theological programs. Hence, our offering of professional theological programs, rather than academic theological programs, sets us apart from many other European schools.
