This week Jim and I have become intimately acquainted with the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9,
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV)
The beginning of the week saw me (Dan) come down with a stomach bug while the latter half of the week has been dominated by Jim’s debilitating chest cold. (How a man develops a chest cold in India, in summer is a topic for another discussion). Yet in the midst of everything we have seen God’s grace and goodness. The students were a little slow in coming in for training but that is understandable when some are coming from 14-15 hours away. It is difficult to chide someone for being late when they are making such a sacrifice to learn! We are working through the Attributes of God and the pastors are eager to study. This is a foundational course in their three year training program. The pastors have been quick to engage and are asking questions where what they are learning is pressing against their preconceptions. It is clear that God is at work here in India and sick or not we consider it a great honor to be a part of it.
Please pray for these pastors as we finish up the course. Pray as they prepare to travel home and pray for the churches that they are pastoring. Pray for India as well. God is at work here but the enemy is not giving ground willingly. Pray for Jim and I as we finish up the week that God will give us full health for our trip home.
