After flying over countless countries, we have arrived here with a warm welcome in Tanzania. These four Muzungus (white people) have been embraced with joy that exceeds expectations. After two days here, one thing is for certain: if anyone thinks they have tasted good tilapia, I am convinced that they ought to think again. Our hosts here at East Africa Christian College in Tarime, Mara, Tanzania are faithful men eager to train and be trained in faithful Bible exposition. They are full of prayer. They are hungry to learn. Preaching the Word of God is the default mission of these men. They are full of conviction, unction, and ambition. Our hope as a team is to overcome their lack of resources with the tools needed to accomplish their unified mission with more effectiveness and, with the Lord’s help, more fruit. Please pray that as we teach and preach, these men would be equipped to proclaim God’s Word by God’s power to God’s people here in Tanzania. One of the highlights of the day was a trip through town to encounter some of the local businesses and people of Tarime. We were greeted by smiling children, welcomed by local merchants, and we learned bits and pieces of Swahili.
We are looking forward to the challenge ahead as we press on to guard the good deposit and advocate for the proclamation of the whole council of God. We ask that as you read along this week, you would partner with us in prayer, and praise God that knowledge of him is increasingly filling the earth.
