An Encouraging Story from a Recent Trip

Jan. 24, 2013By: Darren CarlsonAuthor Bio

In case you are unaware, all of our short-term trips have journals online that give you a glimpse into the places where we are training pastors. Recently our Greece team posted:

On Tuesday an Iranian man was walking around outside in a nearby plaza, praying to Allah for help with all his struggles.  He walked by an Orthodox church and thought he would talk to some Christians.  One of these Christians asked him to the Bible school I have been teaching in.  He met some of my Iranian students, and they led him to the Lord.  Later that night they asked him to give his testimony during our class.  And then on Wednesday night, another young Iranian man became a Christian.  I have been so encouraged by the evangelistic zeal of my students and the deep hunger they have for the Word.  Tonight as I taught them how to preach Christ from Genesis, they were literally on the edge of their seats and taking notes furiously.  They are so hungry for the Word, and they respond to it as though it were of greater value than priceless treasure.

One Pastor and His Future

Aug. 22, 2012By: Michael Littell

Last night a dear friend became the first sponsor in TLI’s Pastor Sponsorship Program. Clotaver Simunvayabo of Burundi was the first to be officially sponsored.

I imagine that angels are rejoicing in heaven over this (Lk 15:7). Jesus says that they rejoice over a single conversion, and while this is not a conversion it is a visible promise to the Church:

  • It is a promise to Clotaver that we will continue to train him theologically to see the contours of his God and his Bible with more clarity.
  • It is a promise to his congregation (of 300) and family (with eight children!) that he will be able to nurture their souls better and better from the Word of God. It is a tangible ‘YES’ to God’s own word: never will I leave you, nor forsake you (Heb 13:5).
  • Finally, it is a promise to Africa. God alone knows how he will use this man and his congregation to bring others to Christ, but the foundations will be there. Sponsoring Clotaver through three years of training says ‘YES’ to a lifetime of preaching Jesus Christ and building up the Church to the glory of God.

May God use this man, the prayers of his sponsor, and the training that he will receive for the love of Jesus Christ and the glory of God the Father! May the eternal footprint of Clotaver’s ministry be filled with ransomed saints in the kingdom of Heaven! And may the Lord continue to bless the pastors of the world with much-needed theological training until we all see him face to face at his return!

Introducing the Pastor Sponsorship Program

Jul. 6, 2012By: Darren CarlsonAuthor Bio

We are happy to announce the launching of our Pastor Sponsorship Program. The program gives everyone an opportunity to meet the pastors we are training and give them the gift of theological training. When you sponsor a pastor your are covering the cost to train a Christian leader who has almost no access to sound theological training.

Here are the basics:

What is the purpose of the Pastor Sponsorship Program?

The Pastor Sponsorship Program is for ground level partnering with pastors in training. These investments ensure that TLI’s partnering pastors receive theological education, and allow believers in the States to connect with them through prayer and ministry updates.

How does my donation for my pastor get used?

Your donation goes to the cost of training the pastor. This could include translation of the material, printing of documents, pastors travel cost and more. THE MONEY DOES NOT go to cover the day-to-day living expenses of the pastor.

How long is the commitment?

We ask you commit until the pastor has finished our training program. This lasts anywhere from 2-4 years.

Do the pastors you train pay any portion of the training they are receiving?

As a general rule, we ask pastors and their churches to pay for something, even if it is small amount to show that they value what they are doing. We never want cost to be prohibitive.
