Missions 101

The Craziest Story I Have Ever Heard (That is True)

Jun. 7, 2011By: Darren CarlsonAuthor Bio

About once a month I read a unbelievable story on the Internet.  It is so incredible that it is not true, and is really just an embellishment of a very simple story.

The story below is true.

Richard Dietrich was a youth pastor at Crystal Evangelical Free 10 years and is currently working at a Short-Term Missions ministry run out of Arizona.

On a recent trip to Poland he went to search for the family tree of his wife Brenda Von Promnitz. When he asked for it, after some research the attendant brought him to a private room.  They told him she was in the lineage of a powerful ruling family of Poland that went back hundreds of years and that most of the family members were lost during the communist reign of Poland.

To make a long story short this low key x-youth pastor and now short term mission guy and his wife have an official title: In His Service Richard Dietrich of the Family Von Promnitz of the Free State of Pless, Count and Countess.

Let me make a bullet list of things that have happened to them since this discovery:

  • They are Count and Countess.
  • They have access to many politicians in Poland.
  • They have thrown Balls for them.
  • He has been interviewed on National TV.
  • Hollywood is process of talking to him about making a movie.
  • His wife's lineage is amazing:  Queen Victoria is among her relatives.
  • His ancestors were godly people and were friends of Luther.
  • The President of Kneizno told him he could have access to towns from Berlin to Moscow.
  • The Von Promnitz family were musical and a young Bach was an understudy of the family musician and lived in their mansions.

And the list goes on.

Richard is a down to earth guy. The family is not looking for wealth and castles and palaces.  He sees endless possibilities of ways to reach out to Politicians, Military, Catholic leaders, local people, school officials and on and on.

When he arrives in Poland many recognize him and love him because he has been in papers and magazines and TV.

Bottom line, he sees himself like Esther.  God brought him here at this time for a specific purpose. Since his family was musical, they want him to bring his music to Poland. Thus Jason Harms and the boys are going over, Bethel Choir is going over along with other Christian musical groups and Christian colleges choirs.  The Polish people love Black gospel music so he has brought those choirs over for concerts also.

Pray for Richard!
