Christ Changes Things

Jun. 2, 2011By: Darren CarlsonAuthor Bio

I am in Amsterdam right now on the way back from Greece marveling at what I have witnessed over the past two weeks.  I had the great privilege of attending a luncheon in Athens last week with leaders from the Greek and Ethnic evangelical churches.  It was the first time they had gotten together.

I think there were at least 15 countries represented.  Philemon Yong, who works with TLI, preached from Ephesians 4 on the issue of unity.  We then had a time of prayer where the Greek Church prayed for the Ethnic Church and then vice versa.  I wish I could have taken a picture, but we were participating!! Philemon also preached at the flagship evangelical church in Greece and it was the first time an African had done so.  This was timely as Greece is facing and immigration crisis and they do not know what to do.  Just this week in Athens 15 non-Greeks were killed.

Later in the week two people from our team studied 2 Timothy with pastors from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.  They had a wonderful time together.  Can you imagine any other scenario where men from these countries would get together with Americans and actually be bonded together with a real love for each other?

 Christ changes things!
