TLI Has Received a $35,000 Matching Gift

Apr. 5, 2012By: Darren CarlsonAuthor Bio

TLI has received a $35,000 matching gift.  This a big deal because this project is meant to significantly increase the reach of TLI.

There are three parts.

Objective One: Develop a Pastor Support Program

We would like to create a pastor support program that would allow individuals to support the pastors we train at $45 a month.  This will cover our costs to train each pastor.  This is not a subsistence living program, nor does it cover all of each pastors cost for training.  We believe that their church should put money toward part of the cost as a way of showing that they value the training.  The money will go toward writing, translating and printing of the curriculum, translators on field, travel and housing costs for teachers and pastors and the exploration of new locations.  Bottom line, this allows people to personalize their giving to TLI, instead of just giving to a general fund.  There are three primary costs to starting this program.

Website Development

We plan to put each pastor’s picture and bio on our website (unless in a sensitive area) and allow people to sponsor them.  We must also develop a secure system where people can manage their giving within TLI’s website.  We have contracted with Taylor Design Works to do this build out.  The owner is a member of Bethlehem Baptist and does all the graphic design for Desiring God Ministries.

Staff Member

We need funding for one staff member to oversee this project and spend time finding sponsors.

Brochures and Printed Materials

We will need to create brochures for this and print them.  This will give our new staff member something to hand potential partners and explain the ministry of TLI and tell the stories of the pastors we train.

Objective Two: Translation of Curriculum

The pastor support program will support translation after this year.  Until then, we need translators to translate the first three classes of TLI’s material.  We need translations done in Farsi, Arabic, Telegu, Dzongkha, Romanian, French and Albanian.

Objective Three: Travel to Setup New Training Sites

We have been invited by missionaries and local leaders to train pastors in multiple locations around the world.  Before we partner with them we need to visit with them and have face-to-face meetings.  We intend on visiting three locations in Southeast Asia, two in the Middle-East and four in Africa.

If you would like to give toward this project and have your gift matched dollar for dollar, go here.  If you can't, please pray that people will be moved to give toward this match.
